Are You a Legend Yet?

We are extremely proud to announce that Stunt Bugs, our first all-original game for iOS, is now available in the iTunes Store!

Guide Buzz, our common housefly hero, in his quest to reach Bugtropolis and cement his place in history as a Stunt Bug Legend. His journey will take you across 48 death defying courses spread across 4 surprise pack worlds. Along the way Buzz’s motorcycle gang will increase as other bugs join journey. Flick the high jumping flea, Web the lasso-spinning spider, and Dot the high-altitude hovering ladybug are a just a few of the friends ready to help. If you need more help to get past a pesky bee, don’t worry – there are 20 other bugs to choose from.

In collaboration with Random House Digital, Smashing Ideas’ creative team lead by Executive Creative Director Chad Otis, created this entourage of tiny heroes and the overarching story of their mission. From the original storyboards, to in-depth level design and extensive game-play balancing, the team immersed themselves in the world of Buzz and his gang. Stunt Bugs was built in Unity for iOS devices.

Framing Creativity in Seattle – Art Bash 2011

The American Advertisers Federation of Seattle gave Seattle’s top ad agencies blank canvases and they’re throwing a party where folks can bid to win that art and help raise money for minority students seeking a degree in communications, all while having a great time with creative colleagues.

This year’s theme is “Framing Creativity in Seattle” and Smashing Ideas is happy to contribute a canvas for the cause. With emerging technology top of mind, we created a piece using the simple frame-like squares and shapes that make up QR codes. If you’re attending be sure to have your phone at the ready.

Over the past year it has been our privilege to work closely with Random House and David A. Carter and Noelle Carter to concept and develop an application which would capture the essence of the brand-new pop-up book LOTS OF BOTS in a fun for the whole family application. We are pleased to announce that the culmination of this effort, Bot Garage , is now available in the App Store!

Framing Creativity in Seattle

Seattle is a hotbed of creativity, inspiration and innovation. The American Advertising Federation/Seattle strives to challenge our collective creative power and community, raising the bar for Seattle’s creative work. Their efforts through events such as tonight’s Art Bash are perfect examples of celebrating our industry’s innovation and creative lifeblood. This year’s theme, “Framing Creativity in Seattle,” challenges the definition of creativity and pushes us to think about it differently; something our client’s brands are asked to do every day to stay relevant in people’s lives.

With emerging technology top of mind, Smashing Ideas created a piece using the simple frame-like squares and shapes that make up QR codes. We were inspired by these frames and put a new twist on it by adding some Seattle flair.

Congrats to all the agencies who participated and thanks for inviting SI to contribute!

Aliens invade the Great Word Quest on PBS Kids

Initial Animax Sites Launch!

A full rebrand, redevelopment of an existing Drupal Content management system, and ensuring the new design worked in 23 regions of the world. No problem! Smashing Ideas had a blast collaborating with the team at Sony International on the redesign of Animaxtv.com, a teen and young adult-centered hub similar to ABC Family, the CW and MTV. Eight of the twenty-three sites have launched and the remainder are scheduled for July and September. Using the CMS, each region has the ability to customize the backgrounds and color themes, determine which blocks of content they want to include in the different sections of the site, and customize the content in the different blocks.
